Even if I don’t agree with all his views and ideas, I must admit that Peter Young has some interesting stuff to say. The good news is that he’s coming to Europe to share his 15 years experience as an activist for the animal liberation movement. So if you can attend one of those two spoken word sessions, do it!
On the 1st and 2nd of July activist and former animal liberation prisoner Peter Young will discuss experiences and lessons from 15 years in the animal liberation movement.
An outspoken supporter of those who work outside the law to achieve animal liberation, Young offers the hows and whys of working underground for animal liberation in the U.S., success and failures of the A.L.F., and his personal experiences moving from mainstream activist, to midnight
raids, prison, and beyond.
Young will discuss A.L.F. history, government persecution, defeating fear, activism stories, and direct action strategy, and more.

One of the things I love about hardcore is that some bands and records labels still press and release vinyls records. So I decided to blog a bit more about the great 7 inches and 12 inches that I get. The first record I want to present is Forever Young‘s 7 inch called The Chance.
I don’t know this band for so long. The first time I heard of them was when they got their song “X on my hand” featured in the EDGE The Movie documentary. Here is a quick biography:
Sweden’s FOREVER YOUNG made their mark with the 10 tunes debut “The Guarantee” (Monument Records) and with this follower they keep the path of vegan dreams. Song titles like “Straight Edge Got My Back” and “Keep It Posi” are reflecting the state of mind of this restless VSE Umeå band : filled with attitude, knowledge and youth.
This Red/yellow mix color vinyl was released on I FOR US RECORDS (from Belgium) and Monument Records (from Sweden) and you can still get your copy on our webstore. This is the first pressing: 625 red/yellow mix and 10 test presses.

This record is fast, raw, straight to the point and REALLY catchy (if you’re like me, you’ll probably listen to it 15 times in a row!). If you like fast melodic hardcore with sincere lyrics (mostly about hardcore, straight edge or veganism), check these guys out!

Je sais que je vais vraisemblablement me mettre pas mal de gens à dos avec cet article, mais c’est pas grave, j’assume ! Ceux qui me connaissent personnellement savent ce que je pense des religions et de leurs dogmes, et la chanson que je vais vous présenter ici expose assez bien comment j’en suis arrivé là. Baptisé et passé par les deux communions (qu’on appelle ici la petite et la grande communion), je parle en connaissance de cause…
Bref, si je ne rejette pas du tout l’idée de la foi et de la croyance en quelque chose de supérieur à nous (force, énergie, réincarnation, etc.), je suis radicalement opposé au concept de religions telles qu’on les connaît. Je n’aime pas l’idée d’avoir à suivre une autorité religieuse et son bouquin sacré. Je n’aime pas non plus qu’on me dise comment mener ma vie ou quelles décisions prendre. Et enfin, je ne supporte pas l’idée qu’on utilise la religion comme prétexte ou comme justification pour faire la guerre, écraser les peuples, exploiter les animaux ou se faire de l’argent sur la tête de gens.
Ne me comprenez pas mal, je respecte tout à fait les croyants et leur foi, c’est juste que moi ça ne me parle pas. Et j’ai bien conscience que tous les catholiques ou les musulmans ne sont pas des esclaves dépourvus de cervelle, mais je pense qu’il ne faut pas perdre de vue que les religions sont puissantes, influentes et potentiellement très dangereuses. Alors quelque soit votre foi ou votre religion, n’oubliez pas d’utiliser votre cerveau et ne vous contentez pas de prendre pour vrai tout ce qui vous est raconté dans votre livre sacré ou votre église. Vous êtes maître de votre vie!
Cette chanson est une oeuvre de Seven Generations, un groupe vegan straight edge américain, politiquement très engagé. Résolument anti capitaliste, pour la défense des droits humains et animaux et anti religions, Seven Generations est un de mes groupes favoris! Dommage qu’ils aient arrêté de jouer…

On me demande souvent pourquoi je suis devenu végétarien. C’est parfois pénible de devoir expliquer 100 fois la même chose, mais c’est toujours une bonne occasion de sensibiliser les gens. Je suis conscient que l’homme est un être omnivore, et que la viande a (presque) toujours fait partie de son alimentation, mais je ne peux pas accepter l’idée de manger un être vivant. Certains penseront que je suis une “chochotte”, grand bien leur fasse, mais moi au moins j’ai une conscience et un coeur, c’est tout ce qui compte!
Je ne suis pas là pour vous convaincre d’arrêter de manger de la viande, mais juste pour vous faire réaliser que ce qui se trouve sur votre assiette est parfois (ou souvent) le résultat d’un traitement plus que discutable. Ce qui m’attriste vraiment, c’est que la majorité des gens savent comment ces animaux sont traités, et que ça ne les empêche pas de manger du foie gras ou des cuisses de grenouilles. Ca vous plairait qu’on vous arrache les jambes alors que vous êtes encore vivants? Ou qu’on vous remplisse le bide avec un entonnoir? Moi pas!
La chanson que je vous présente aujourd’hui est It Kills You To Know du groupe suédois xAnchorx. Elle exprime bien l’incompréhension que je ressens face aux gens qui disent ouvertement en avoir rien à faire du traitement des animaux. Encore une fois, ça n’engage que moi, et je n’imposerai JAMAIS mes choix aux autres. Chacun sa vie, ses choix et sa santé.
