Huge sale at the Disobedience Distro webstore

For many reasons, I For Us Records will go on a indefinite hiatus this fall. But we still plan on releasing more stuff till then. So, we decided to made a huge sale and sell our 2007-2009 releases (except the new Nine Eleven album) at crazy prices! Coming up soon are the first 7 inch of our friends in RENO(chaotic stuff inspired by bands like Converge and Norma Jean), the first EP by the belgian youngsters in PRESSURE (co-production with the newly founded Align Records) and the new 7 inch from swedish straight-edge band FOREVER YOUNG. This last one is a co-release with our friends in Monument Records from Sweden. No need to say that we are excited by all these new records!

Real straight edge vs. Nazi Fucks

I just came across this blog post on HOW’S YOUR EDGE?, and I’m really (and I mean FUCKING REALLY) pissed about what it brought to my attention. It looks like some Nazi fucks from Germany and Russia stole (because that’s what it is) the straight edge principles to improve or support their lame ideologies. I  simply can’t understand how these people can use the sxe philosophy to support fascism and racism… Straight edge is about being a better person, being open minded, having respect for yourself and others, doing positive things…and is totally against any form of intolerance or hate!

What sxe means to me is way more than that: it’s about (re)gaining control over your life, helping others  (humans or animals) and act positive for your planet, culture, society or community. So I don’t see how you can help other people by promoting (and fighting for) hate, intolerance, racism, fascism, sexism or homophobia!! If you take a quick look to the following lyrics from Gather’s song “Total Liberation”, you’ll understand that straight edge rejects any form of discrimination!

The hardcore and straight edge scenes are not, and never will be, about intorelance, hate, racism or fascism, so MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD AND FIGHT NAZISM! Repost this, write stuff, comment, speak out and help us fight these fuckers that try to steal our positive movement! Don’t let the media think that we are a bunch of fucking nazis!

The Great Round the World Envelope Race

Je n’accepte pas souvent de participer à des campagnes de buzz, mais celle-ci me semblait un peu plus originale que ce qu’on m’a déjà proposé avant. Il s’agit de la “Great Round the World Envelope Race”; une course dans laquelle s’affrontent deux équipes de blogueurs. L’idée est de faire passer une enveloppe par voie postale d’un blogueur à l’autre, afin de traverser le monde entier le plus rapidement possible.

[EN] I almost never accept to be part of buzz campaigns, but this one seemed interesting. “The Great Round the World Envelope Race” is a race opposing two teams of bloggers. The idea is to send an envelope through post from blogger to blogger, to circumnavigate the globe as quick as possible.

En pratique, l’enveloppe renferme toute une série d’enveloppes plus petites (à la manière des poupées russes) permettant au blogueur d’envoyer le pli à la personne suivante dans la chaîne. Cette fameuse enveloppe contient aussi un guestbook et un petit cadeau du blogueur précédent. C’est ainsi que Laurence (aka. Lolly) m’a fait parvenir une jolie carte postale de Piccadilly Circus accompagnée de deux sachets de thé et d’un super porte-clé-lampe-de-poche-pour-quand-on-retrouve-pas-le-trou-de-la-serrure (merci Lolly, il est déjà accroché à mes clés, je l’adore!).

The envelope contains smaller envelopes (of gradually diminishing size, like a Russian doll) so the blogger can easily send it to the next person in the list. This envelope also contains a guestbook and a little present from the previous blogger. So, Laurence (aka. Lolly) sent me a lovely postcard from Piccadilly Circus, 2 tea bags and a kickass “I love London” flashlight keychain (thanks Lolly, it’s already hanging to my keys, I just love it!).

Ca m’a fait plaisir de recevoir un pli postal, comme au bon vieux temps où on s’envoyait encore de vraies lettres. Ca me manque cette impatience, celle qui nous pousse à guetter le passage du facteur tous les matins, jusqu’à ce que la précieuse lettre soit entre nos mains. Bref, merci à Lolly et à Pushing the Envelope pour m’avoir fait participer à cette campagne. C’est une chouette idée et ça change un peu des vidéos virales et des buzz-kits à deux balles!

It’s always a pleasure to receive something in your “real” mailbox. I miss those good old times when we had to wait for the postman to get our letters. Anyway, thanks to Lolly and Pushing the Envelope for choosing me to be part of this campaign. It’s an original and great idea, finally something else than cheap buzz-kits and viral videos.
