New mashup: RED BULL STREET ART VIEW

I hate energy drinks but I love street art and mashups. Two weeks ago I wrote about the Google Art Project and today I want to present you the RED BULL STREET ART VIEW. Yet another awesome mashup using Google’s Street View service.

RED BULL STREET ART VIEW is a “collaborative collection of Google’s Street View locations showcasing Street Art from all over the world”. Users can tag artists (or themselves) and spots, and share it with friends. You can search artists by name or browse this crowd-sourced open air museum using the maps. Some of my favorite artists such as Banksy, Keith Haring or Space Invaders are already featured on the site.

This mashup actually got me more excited than the Google Art Project. Their aim is to become “the biggest art collection in the world” and I think they could succeed! Check it out and participate now!

Google Art Project is open!

Looks like Google is back with yet another project. And I think this one is HUGE: Google Art Project.

You know, I’ve always had this crazy dream that art should be free and accessible to everyone. But growing up in a white, middle class Belgian family made me realize that it is not. Being able to travel the world, visit the greatest museums and attend the best exhibitions is not something everyone can afford. This is a luxury that we shouldn’t take for granted. Actually, this shouldn’t be a luxury at all. I still deeply think that art should be accessible to anyone. And it’s exactly for that reason that I love Google’s new project!

Based on Google Maps’ street view feature, Google Art Project allows you to “explore museums from around the world, discover and view hundreds of artworks at incredible zoom levels, and even create and share your own collection of masterpieces“. You can take a virtual tour of some of the biggest museums in the world and take a close view of the selected artworks. You can even make your own art collection by saving specific views of any of the featured artworks. Of course, you can’t visit the entire museum (it’s up to each museum to choose what they want to show) but I think it’s still pretty rad! You should give it a try! More museums will be added to the list but they already have some of my favorites: The Museum of Modern Art, NYC (USA), the Tate Britain, London (UK) and the Uffizi Gallery, Florence (Italy).

A1ONE – Graffiti from Iran

I don’t know much about A1ONE but this guy got some amazing stuff! Take a look at this video for his great work and some insights about graffiti and street arts in Iran. Interesting!

The film is the story of what happens when his guy tried to make a documentary about me but he was a lot more interesting than I am, so the film is now kinda about him.

Je ne sais toujours pas précisément en quoi consiste le film, mais c’est pas grave, je suis déjà affolé à l’idée de le voir. Notez qu’on voit passer quelques grosses célébrités du street-art, dont Space Invaders, un de mes favoris!
